Tata Motors has hinted that they are going to launch a new small car that would be position between their Nano and Indica model.
The company admitted that they do not have anything in the middle at the moment and this is a big market that is being missed out.
Tata Nano is priced below Rs. 2 lakh while most Indica variants are priced above Rs. 3 lakhs.
Maruti dominates the segment consisting of models priced between Rs. 2-3 lakhs. There are a couple of other models but they are very close to the Rs. 3 lakh price point.
Sources say that this new model would be developed completely in-house by the company and it could arrive in the market by 2012.
